Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) and PT Artha Mobil Indonesia (AMI) have entered into a joint venture agreement to build a commercial vehicle trucks & buses.
The signing was done by Iki Wibowo, President Director of PT AMI and Lee In Cheol, Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company) at Wisma KBRI Seoul, South Korea, Tuesday.
President Director of PT AMI Iki Wibowo stated from the cooperation will be born Xcient and Mighty Truck type products with a capacity of 2,000 units per year in the early stages.
The Hyundai and PT AMI plant will be built in Artha Industrial Hill (AIH), Karawang, West Java. Facilities built in the form of assembly vehicle (vehicle assembly), quality control and track testing (fast track), he said.
AIH is chosen because of its strategic location and has good facilities and infrastructure.
He added that this cooperation is very important for Indonesia because HMC is one of the 5th largest automotive industry in the world. In the early stages, the industry will absorb 500 workers.
With this cooperation is expected to increase the growth of the automotive industry in Indonesia and further strengthen the cooperation between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of South Korea, especially in the economic field, he explained.
