South Korea Builds Sneakers Material Rp 330M in Karawang

Jakarta – Industry from ginseng country again chose Indonesia to invest. Following the Hyundai Motor Company which already decided to build a factory in Artha Industrial Hill, West Karawang, December 2017, PT Dong Jin Textile Indonesia (PT DJTI) today conducted groundbreaking plant in Karawang.

The interest of PT DJTI to invest in Indonesia has been conveyed by Dong Jin Textile Co., LTD President Director, Choi Woo-Chui to Indonesian Ambassador for South Korea Umar Hadi, during a working visit to Dong Jin factory in Busan South Korea last year.

The company that produces textile materials sneakers shoes plan to invest around Rp 330 billion. The initial production starts in 2019.

According to the head of BKPM Seoul representative Imam Soejoedi, the decision of South Korean companies to establish a factory in Artha Industrial Hill is a correct decision. Besides having a strategic location, an integrated facilities and infrastructure, Artha Industrial Hill also implemented the program called KLIK from BKPM, that could ease direct investment construction. Under this program, investors can start the construction while processes other license.

Currently, South Korea become Indonesia’s strategic partner in investment and trade. In the last 6 years, South Korea’s investment realization in Indonesia has reached US $ 9.6 billion.

“With that huge investment, South Korea is the third largest country which directly invest in Indonesia after Singapore and Japan,” said Imam Soejoedi in his statement on Wednesday (5/23/2018).

PT DJTI plan to produce the fabric for sneakers and footwear around 6 million meters per month. In the initial phase, it will create 500 job opportunities. For Dong Jin Textile Group, the factory that established in Artha Industrial Hill Karawang, is their third factory. The previous factories have been established in South Korea and Vietnam.

PT DJTI ensures that the 5-hectare plant in Artha Industrial Hill Karawang area will implement international standard technology, including for the waste treatment. Therefore, the production process will be environmental friendly.
