The golden visa program aims to draw in foreign business and individual investors in an effort to strengthen the domestic economy. Provisions regarding the Golden Visa are regulated in the Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation (Permenkumham) Number 22 of 2023 concerning Visas and Stay Permits, as well as the Minister of Finance Regulation Number 82 of 2023 which was promulgated on 30 August 2023.
It provides a long-term residency permit of five to ten years. Individual investors must establish a firm worth USD 2.5 million for the five-year visa, while a USD 5 million investment is necessary for the 10-year visa. Meanwhile, corporate investors are required to invest USD 25 million to get a five-year visa for directors and commissioners and invest double, or USD 50 million, to gain a 10-year visa. For foreign investors who choose not to create a firm in the Southeast Asian nation, different rules apply. The requirements range from USD 350,000 to USD 700,000 in funds that can be used to purchase Indonesian government bonds.
Golden visa holders are expected to enjoy a number of exclusive benefits from this type of visa, including a longer stay period, ease of leaving and entering Indonesia, and no longer needing to apply for an ITAS (Indonesian Limited Stay Permit) at the immigration office.
