President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB), dubbed “Whoosh”, marking the first high-speed train service in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The inauguration was attended by several representatives from PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), the operating consortium for KCJB.

Operated by the two-country consortium, PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), Whoosh will offer more diverse and efficient travel options between Jakarta and Bandung. This high-speed train features a spacious and modern design with three classes, including a particular room for the disabled. With the operation of this high-speed train, travel time between Jakarta and Bandung will be reduced to 46 minutes, down from the previous three-hour journey. The travel time between Jakarta and Karawang will also be reduced to 15 minutes, down from a 1-hour journey. This shift will also encourage moving from private vehicles to public transportation.

KCIC also plans to construct access roads for high-speed train stations, including a new exit toll from Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road at KM 42 straight to Karawang Station, located 1.5 km from Artha Industrial Hill. The station will integrate into Cikarang and Karawang Industrial Zones and accommodate 68 high-speed train schedules. The stations are integrated with the Greater Jakarta LRT, BRT, and airport shuttle bus, reducing station changes.
