Karawang, July 22, 2026 – LiuGong officially held the groundbreaking ceremony for its Indonesia Green Smart Industrial Park inside the Karawang Artha Industrial Hill (KAIH) estate in West Java.
Senior executives from Guangxi LiuGong Group Co., Ltd., Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd., and LiuGong Machinery Indonesia joined a distinguished lineup of government officials and prominent business figures at the event:
- Drs. Djauhari Oratmangun – Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia
- Dr. Setia Diarta, M.T. – Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industries at the Ministry of Industry
- Dr. Edy Junaedi, M.Si. – Deputy for Investment Implementation Control at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry
- H. Aep Syaepuloh, S.E. – Karawang Regent
- Mr. Anindya Novyan Bakrie – Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Chairman
- Ms. Hang Yajuan – Representative of the China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia
Indonesia’s First Dedicated Electric Heavy Equipment Plant
Scheduled to open in the first half of 2027, the facility will become the first plant in Indonesia built specifically for electric heavy equipment.
The first phase of development covers electric excavators and wheel loaders, featuring production lines designed for a capacity of 5,000 units per year. Advanced automated technologies—including Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), Rail Guided Vehicles (RGV), and a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)—will manage much of the factory floor, ensuring consistent output and high operational efficiency at scale.
Beyond serving the local market, the site is designated as one of LiuGong’s core production bases for the Asia-Pacific region, with future plans to export products to North America and Europe.
Building Local Capabilities and Industrial Talent
Manufacturing represents only one facet of the initiative. LiuGong will also establish the Indonesia Product Application Research and Development Center, partnering with Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) to drive technology transfer and local talent development.
The talent pipeline is already actively running. Since joining the China–Indonesia School Cooperation Program in 2023, LiuGong has trained over 900 students. Currently, thirty students from the latest intake are undergoing professional training at LiuGong’s headquarters in China and will transition directly into hands-on roles at the Indonesia facility upon completion.
For KAIH, this initiative directly aligns with and supports Indonesia’s efforts to increase local content requirements (TKDN) and strengthen domestic industrial supply chains.
Strengthening KAIH’s Integrated Industrial Ecosystem
LiuGong’s presence provides KAIH’s industrial ecosystem with a solid foothold in electric mobility and advanced manufacturing[cite: 3]. This investment further cements KAIH’s role in Indonesia’s electric vehicle and green manufacturing supply chain, working alongside other strategic investments to drive sustainable industry growth.
KAIH remains dedicated to delivering a supportive investment climate, integrated infrastructure, and end-to-end assistance for tenants from groundbreaking through full operational execution[cite: 3].
Driving Economic and Industrial Impact
The benefits of this partnership extend far beyond a single manufacturing plant[cite: 3]. From job creation and workforce development to enhanced industrial capabilities and a more competitive domestic supply chain, LiuGong’s investment is set to deliver broad economic value.
Karawang Artha Industrial Hill congratulates LiuGong on this major milestone and looks forward to supporting the development of the Indonesia Green Smart Industrial Park as part of Indonesia’s green, intelligent manufacturing future.
